Description

TotalEnergies Renewables Deutschland develops renewable energy projects in Germany.

Profile

To achieve CO2 neutrality by 2050, together with society, TotalEnergies plans to increase its renewable electricity production to more than 100 TWh by 2030.

TotalEnergies Renewables Deutschland GmbH

As part of its ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, TotalEnergies is building a competitive portfolio of renewable (solar, onshore and offshore wind) and flexible (CCGT, storage) assets to provide its customers with less and less carbon-intensive electricity available 24/7. TotalEnergies net electricity production target is to produce more than 100 TWh by 2030, making it one of the world's top 5 of renewable electricity (wind and solar). Germany plays an important role in this as a focus market for renewable energies.

The transformation of TotalEnergies into a multi-energy company

TotalEnergies committed to profoundly transforming its production and sales. While continuing to meet the energy needs of an expanding population, our mission is to provide energy that is ever more affordable, sustainable, and reliable to as many people as possible. Over the last three years, TotalEnergies has invested over 11 billion euros worldwide in low-carbon molecules, an integrated electricity business and the expansion of renewable energies. The company is on track to meet its target of 35 GW of installed wind and solar capacity by 2025.

On the way to becoming an integrated electricity supplier in Germany

In 2023 and 2024, TotalEnergies has been awarded maritime concessions by the German Federal Network Agency to build three wind farms in the North and Baltic Seas with a total capacity of 4.5 GW. The company specializes in the development of large-scale ground-mounted solar plants, onshore wind power and solar solutions for industrial and commercial customers in Germany. The acquisitions of Quadra Energy, Kyon Energy and Nash Renewables demonstrate TotalEnergies' strategic shift towards becoming an integrated power player in Germany.

Offshore wind power

TotalEnergies is one of the largest developers of offshore wind projects. Our first offshore wind farms are in operation, others are under construction or in development. A good example of our recognized expertise in managing offshore projects, is the Scottish wind farm “Seagreen”, which has produced electricity for up to 1.6 million households since 2023. The 114 wind turbines are anchored at a depth of 59 meters in the North Sea floor - making “Seagreen” the deepest fixed-bottom wind farm in the world. TotalEnergies continues to invest and will install 4.5 GW of new wind capacity off the coasts of Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania by 2031.

Onshore wind power

In the onshore segment, TotalEnergies , finances, develops and operates worldwide large solar and onshore wind plants . Leveraging our longstanding presence and deep roots in different parts of the world, we deliver projects that are both reliable and sustainable over the long term. In Germany onshore wind power plays a pivotal role in driving the energy transition. Through our focused commitment and our activities in this area, we are supporting this development.

Due to the intermittent nature of wind and solar energy, large-scale storage of renewable electricity is critical to ensuring grid stability.  That is why TotalEnergies is investing in stationary storage capacities. In Germany, for example, TotalEnergies acquired Kyon Energy, a leading battery storage systems developer. In addition, our affiliate Saft designs, produces and sells high-tech batteries for industry, developing solutions that combine superior energy density, longevity and performance to cater to renewable energy applications.
